PORTOHUGU is more than just a name – it’s an invitation to adventure and discovery, an invitation to travel and enjoy your surroundings, and a gateway to your fun experiences in Porto and Northern Portugal.

PORTO HUGS YOU. PORTO HUGS U. PORTO HUG U. And finally – PORTOHUGU. So, abbreviated, PORTOHUGU means “Porto hugs you.” The name perfectly reflects our mission: to reveal the charm of Northern Portugal to you. We became ambassadors of Portugal by creating an Instagram profile where we shared the most beautiful views of Porto and its surroundings. The first photo – a seagull flying against the backdrop of the famous Luís I Bridge – invited you to experience this amazing region.

Soon, however, we realized that photos alone were not enough. Journeys through Northern Portugal, impressions from hikes, architectural wonders, local people, food, and wine – all of these fueled our passion to share. At the end of 2022, we timidly began offering our company to travelers craving adventure. Now, PORTOHUGU is more than just social media – it’s personalized tours, hikes, and experiences created with love and enthusiasm. Our goal is not only to reveal Portugal’s beauty but also to help you fall in love with it. Every journey with PORTOHUGU is unique, tailored to your wishes and needs.

Since I was little, my life has felt like an endless expedition. Each day was like a new adventure, full of unexpected discoveries and magical experiences. As a child, my family traveled to different places, and my curiosity grew with every new corner we explored.

As I began my independent journey in life, my desire to travel only grew stronger. I ventured into even broader horizons, exploring more unknown and fascinating places: France, Czech Republic, Portugal, Turkey, Egypt, Poland, Spain, and beyond. Every trip was a new opportunity to discover, understand, and truly feel. Portugal touched me the most. It sparked a deeper connection with the country and inspired me to get to know it better.

My path in Portugal began in the field of gastronomy. It became a key to exploring the wider cultural heritage of the country. Living here, experiencing Portuguese (and beyond) culinary masterpieces, connecting with locals (and travelers alike), deepening my knowledge through various courses and simple street experiences, I discovered and fell in love with the immeasurable cultural and historical treasures of this land. This naturally led to a desire to share my experiences and discoveries with others.

That’s how PORTOHUGU was born – a project that became a way of life. Through it, I not only share my experiences and knowledge but also inspire others to embark on their own adventures. When you do what you truly love, the results speak for themselves.

I have always been drawn to books – full of mysterious stories and wisdom, they opened the treasures of the world to me and let me dream of faraway lands and adventures. Until one day, I realized that the passion for travel could be just as tangible and attainable as a good book.

Since then, I have embarked on countless journeys – first across Lithuania, then throughout Europe. Each trip became not only a crossing of geographical boundaries but also a deep cultural experience, allowing me to understand the world in a more complete way.

After visiting Portugal several times, I discovered a cultural paradise here. That is why I chose this country for my master’s studies in tourism. Both my studies and immersion in local life revealed to me the vast treasures of Portugal.

Living here, I simply enjoy this discovery and the joy found in the small everyday wonders. Every day is a new chapter, written with love and a passion for exploration – a story I feel compelled to share with you!
